Document versus Create: Making your journey the priority

I have started this blog more than a year ago. As you can see, not very successfully content volume-wise, as I only published a couple of articles in a year. What started with inspiration ended up in desperation. Why?

I had a grand idea of making this blog all about lifestyle design, personal growth, learning, and trying out new things. An inspirational place to love yourself, improve your overall happiness, and go after set goals and dreams. However, once I published a couple of articles and kept a couple of drafts hidden in computer folders, I hit the wall. I felt like I had a lot to say, but I couldn‘t write or share. Felt like an imposter, like I didn‘t have enough experience to tell people what to do with their lives. Hell, I haven‘t even figured my life out yet, I‘m as confused as I‘ve ever been, most days can‘t wake up on time and I will be trying to teach people how to live their lives? Hell to the no. And that‘s why I didn‘t publish or write anything and just kept things to myself.

But I still knew I wanted to write and share. And recently I had a huge perspective change which got me moving out of the stuck position, all thanks to amazing entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk. If you haven‘t heard of him, you definitely need to check all social media pages and podcasts for inspiration and mind-changing ideas. I like listening to him on a weekly, majority of the time on a daily basis as he just gives you that inspiration boost to do things and shows you different angles to life and business, no sugarcoating on top. You‘ll thank me later.

So on one of Gary Vee‘s podcasts, I came across the idea of Documenting vs Creating. It sounds so simple but is so powerful: Instead of creating advice that you think you should be giving others, document your journey. Now take your time and read it again to make it sink: Instead of creating advice that you think you should be giving others, document your own journey. MIND. BLOWN. At least it was for me.

No need to pretend I‘ve it all figured out. No need to lie or fake. No need to try and write like other bloggers to be noticed. No posts about the things people should know, but I‘ve got no experience with. Just going back to my vision and documenting my journey and growth, while creating value for you guys and sharing best practices. It‘s that simple.

Just made me realise once more that SIMPLE is the way forward. Truth is the engine. Everything is simple until we make it complicated. And going back to my blog, it was the reason I created it in the first place. To be authentic, to be honest, to keep it simple and real, and walk through life while growing together and sharing our experiences.

So in the next few months, you will see a lot of changes on my blog and social media as I will be documenting. And I hope you stick around to see because things will only get better!

Now tell me, what have you been up to? What do you want to document?
